Materials & Care
Simple materials, honestly listed — and a two-minute routine that keeps them bright.
Our materials
Every piece is made from carefully chosen materials, selected for how they wear over time.
- 18k rose gold and rhodium plating over a solid brass base — weighty without being heavy.
- Hand-set cubic zirconia and crystal, cut to catch daylight from every angle.
- Freshwater pearls, chosen for lustre rather than perfect roundness.
- Nickel-free finishes throughout, safe for sensitive skin.
Caring for plated jewelry
Plating is a thin layer of precious metal applied over a base metal, and it lasts longest when it is treated gently.
- Put jewelry on last — after perfume, hairspray, lotions and sunscreen have been applied and absorbed.
- Avoid contact with perfume, cosmetics, household chemicals and cleaning products.
- Remove pieces before swimming, bathing, showering or exercising — avoid excessive moisture.
- Store jewelry properly: dry, flat, and separated, in the pouch it arrived in.
- Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth after wearing.
Caring for crystals and gemstones
- Wipe crystals and stones with a soft cloth — nothing abrasive.
- Keep gemstones away from ultrasonic cleaners and steam; both can loosen settings.
- Store pieces individually so harder stones cannot scratch softer ones.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes, which can stress settings over time.
The two-minute routine
- Get dressed first — perfume and lotions go on before jewelry.
- Wipe each piece with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
- Store it flat in the pouch it arrived in, away from humidity.
- Take it off for swimming, gym and sleeping — plating does not like chlorine.
If a piece dulls, a damp cloth and a gentle buff bring it back. Skip ultrasonic cleaners and toothpaste — they strip plating. Still stuck? Write to care@lumera.com and we will look at it with you.
